Uploaded by TheReligiousFreedom on Feb 9, 2012 On February 5, 2012 Father Sammie Maletta delivered a Homily at St. John the Evangelist Parish in St. John, Indiana. This Homily addressed how President Obama is threatening our Religious Freedom and declaring war with the Catholic Church. Please take a few moments to listen. However, neither party wants to take on large denominations on this. They would be afraid of the reaction. rikerdodger in reply to fforrett (Show the comment) 4 hours ago Reply Share Remove Flag for spam Block User Unblock User I just gave a concrete example above, where the hierarchy spent quite a bit of money to influence a ballot initiative. Hopefully for them, they had a separate, taxable fund to which people could donate, but I don't think that happened. rikerdodger in reply to fforrett (Show the comment) 4 hours ago Reply Share Remove Flag for spam Block User Unblock User p2 But that was not enough for the hierarchy. They have been very active politically (with a tax-exempt status their opponents do not have), trying to block ANY same sex marriages, even civil ones. That seems to be EXACTLY what it means to impose their morality on those who are not even Catholic. I can understand opposition to abortion. To me that is not a matter of religion, there is a human person being harmed. But just HOW does gay marriage affect the Church and its mission? rikerdodger in reply to rikerdodger (Show the comment) 5 hours ago Reply Share Remove Flag for spam Block User Unblock User rocky, If the Catholic hierarchy was not trying to impose its morality on non-believers, then why would the Church be so outspoken (and spend so much money) on campaigns to BAN the civil marriages of gay and lesbian couples? None of the laws which acknowledged this right is FORCING the Catholic Church to PERFORM these weddings, or even to recognize them. ctd. rikerdodger in reply to rockyron46 (Show the comment) 5 hours ago Reply Share Remove Flag for spam Block User Unblock User Actually, this was NEVER discussed in writing the legislation. What WAS agreed to was that Catholic hospitals would not be forced to perform procedures which violated their conscience. THIS issue is about the insurance coverage their EMPLOYEES are able to get. And essentially what Obama has done was to provide contraceptive coverage, but not require the employer to pay for that coverage. Do you believe that a Catholic institution has the right to dictate the private lives of their employees? rikerdodger in reply to SamDamonSTL (Show the comment) 5 hours ago Reply Share Remove Flag for spam Block User Unblock User I would also ask you who committed the worst "evil" (as long as we are judging people)? Obama is not forcing anyone to have an abortion, or even advocating the idea. But the bishops of the Western world (at least, I am convinced this scandal is world-wide. It is just that in certain areas of the developing world there is a strong cultural nexus which discourages victims from speaking out.) used settlement money to force victims to be silent.......
